Paulina
EXPERIENCE
Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano Tutor
As a child, Paulina took part in the annual Carlisle and District Music and Drama Festival, often receiving first prize. At age 15, Paulina had her first taste of professional music making, in the form of playing the piano at a local restaurant. A year later, she began her studies at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, where she studied the saxophone with Jim Muirhead and Iain Dixon, and the piano with Marta Karbownicka. In 2017, she started studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, with saxophone as her principal study. Her main tutor was Josef Pacewicz, who also taught her clarinet, with Arno Bornkamp as a visiting artist. During this period, she also attend masterclasses with esteemed artists such as Kyle Horch, Tim McAllister and Alain Crepin, and learned all about the British, American and French styles of playing.
At both institutions, Paulina regularly performed both solo and chamber music in venues such as Bridgewater Hall, Band on the Wall and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. One of her fondest memories is playing with her quartet as part of an event at the Govanhill Baths, with the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon in attendance.
